The campaign promise

Heaven.
It just happens
to be in Texas.

“Those who know this land will tell you it’s heaven… it just happens to be in Texas.”

That was the promise behind Goswick & Associates’ early 1990s relaunch of Barton Creek and Barton Creek Lakeside. The campaign introduced a vision of the place. A series of events then invited people to experience it—and discover the work of Austin’s custom builders.

From vision to experience

A place people
could explore.

The 1993 Austin Parade of Homes brought 21,830 visitors to seven decorated show homes over three weeks. A grand opening and Showcase of Homes kept that momentum going.

So did a pro-celebrity golf tournament on the Tom Fazio course featuring Arnold Palmer, Ben Crenshaw, Lee Trevino, and Chi Chi Rodríguez, alongside a book signing with legendary golf teacher Harvey Penick.

Together, these experiences gave visitors a way to see the setting, meet its builders, and imagine a life at Barton Creek.

Interest became action

A measurable
response.

The events also generated measurable interest. An archival report recorded 2,599 responses to the 1994 grand opening campaign and approximately 44 homesites reserved by May 20, 1994.

More than three decades later, Barton Creek remains a sought-after luxury community.

The lesson for the future

Make the promise.
Let people live it.

Make a promise people want to explore. Then create experiences that let them see the place, meet its builders, and imagine a life there.
